Kew Gardens Wedding – London

As a London wedding photographer I’m lucky enough to see some of the best wedding venues London has to offer, and high on that list is the spectacular Kew Gardens. I photographed this classic and elegant Kew Gardens wedding on a gloriously sunny day, taking advantage of the light pouring into the stunning Nash and Princess of Wales conservatories, where the ceremony and reception were held.
After a great start at the Petersham Hotel, Richomond for getting ready shots; I managed to rip the seat of my trousers (!!) in an over-enthusiastic moment of “getting the shot” at the groom’s getting-ready drinks at the Cricketer’s pub, Richmond. Luckily for me enough material was hanging on to conceal embarrassment – and it didn’t stop me from tearing around (pun intended!) with the bride and groom in a golf cart later in the day to take some beautiful portraits in the Japanese Gardens!
Light and Pagodas
I’m always looking for the best light and interesting backdrops to shoot the portraits at a wedding. Kew Gardens provided a combination of lots of amazing backdrops and gorgeous light. Not only are the gardens themselves full of colour; the architecture – including glass-houses, pagodas, conservatories and an orangery– is incredible in itself. No wonder Kew Gardens is one of London’s top attractions!
With lots of children bouncing about, the wedding was full of laughter and fun. The speeches were especially funny – the best man was on par to a stand up comedian! As the sunny day drew to a close the guests danced the night away to an awesome DJ. I left with my trousers and my dignity (just about) intact! 🙂
As a result of such a beautiful day, it’s always difficult choosing a selection. So, check out my favourites below:
